Coming up in a rough environment, Rio became familiar with the courts and state facilities where he found the passion for reading everything from non fiction to urban fiction, poetry, African American Literature and more. He decided to turn his written rap lyrics into poems and his journal into inspirational quotes. Inspired by another native Detroit writer by the name of Donald Goines after reading a book called Whoreson given to him by a staff member when he was seventeen and also by another writer by the name of Nathan McCall from Virginia, Rio wrote his first novel in a Michigan prison cell in 2005 and after several trips in and out managed to write several more. It wasn't until he decided that he needed to change his mental direction and concentrate on his passion that he prevailed over the trouble which led him back and forth to Michigan Department of Corrections. In 2016 he moved to Arizona where he formed his business Rio Delores Services and released his first book, an inspirational memoir called Daze of Our Lives published under Author House Publishing in 2018.
After two years of receiving disappointing royalties he decided to convert his business into his own publishing company where he revised and released a new edition of Daze called Legends Live Forever.
Rio Delores has several upcoming projects in the works and also writes film scripts and plays as he plans to bring his message not only to books and magazines but also to the big screen.
